    Unit 3 Language in use,状语从句(三):程度状语从句和让步状语从句(1)so. that. 引导的程度状语从句 1)当主句与从句意义一致,且从句为肯定句时,so. that.可以与.enough to结构相互转换。如: He is so old that he can go to school. =He is old enough to go to school. 他足够大,可以上学了。,2)当程度状语从句表达否定意义时,可与too. to.或not. enough to结构相互转换。如: He ran so quickly that we all couldnt catch up with him. =He ran too quickly for us all to catch up with him. 他跑得很快,我们都追不上他。 Jim is so young that he cant look after himself. =Jim is too young to look after himself. =Jim is not old enough to look after himself. 吉姆如此年轻以致于不能照顾自己。,(2)such. that. 引导的程度状语从句 其常用结构为:such+a/an+adj.+可数名词单数+that;such+adj.+可数名词复数/不可数名词+that。如: This is such an interesting book that we all enjoy reading it. 这本书非常有趣,我们都喜欢看。 They are such interesting books that we all enjoy reading them. 这些书很有趣,我们都喜欢看。,(3)so+many/few/much/little+名词+that从句 若名词前有表示数量的形容词many/ few/ much/ little时,须与so连用,构成so+many/ few/ much/ little+名词+that从句。如: The explorer had so many falls that he was black and blue all over. 探险家摔了很多跤,以致于全身上下青一块紫一块的。,I had so few pencils that I did not finish this drawing. 我的铅笔几乎用完了以致于我没有完成这幅画。 There was so much food that we couldnt eat it all. 食物太多了,我们吃不完。 I have so little money that I cannot afford a car. 我的钱太少,买不起汽车。,【注意】若little表示“小”时,要用such。如: He is such a little boy that he cant lift the box. 他是这么小的一个男孩,提不动那个箱子。,(4)让步状语从句 让步状语从句通常由although, though等连词引导。二者都不可与but, however连用,但可与yet或still连用。如: Though he is young, he knows a lot. 虽然他年轻,但他懂得很多。 Although I am tired, I must go on working. 尽管我很累,但我必须继续工作。,【注意】在as though(好像;仿佛),even though(即使;纵然)等固定短语中不能用although代替though。,【话题呈现】 本模块围绕“Home alone”展开话题,要求学生能够写一篇文章说明独自在家生活时该做什么、不该做什么。,【佳句荟萃】 Although they loved me, I felt a bit unhappy. 尽管他们爱我,我仍然感到有点不开心。 They managed every minute of my life. 他们安排我人生中的每一分钟。 I became so bored with their orders that I wished they would leave me alone. 我对他们的命令感到如此的厌烦,以致于我希望他们别理我。,Now was my chance! 现在我的机会来了!
