Appearance The appearance of fuse-links shall be free from defects harm- ful to use and the inside fusible part shall be visible from the outside. 6. Test method 6.1 Test conditions The test(s) of the fuse-links shall be conducted underthe fol- lowing conditions unless otherwise specified. (1) Any tests other than the vibration and temperature/ hu- midity cycle tests shall, in general, be performed in such a manner that the terminal face of the fuse-link is mounted in the horizontal plane. (2) All electrical tests shall conform to the testing arrange- ment shown in Fig.3 and be made with direct current maintained within tolerance o f f 1% at a temperature of (23 2 5)%, unless the current and voltage tolerances are otherwise stated. (3) The connecting cables used in the electrical tests shall conform to JIS C 3406, JASO D 611 and IS0 6722-4. (4) Connections to the fuse-link shall be made using the connecting cable of not less than 600 mm in length speci- fied in Table 5. When two or more fuse-links are tested in series, they shall be mounted not less than 150 mm apart. (5) Make vibration and environmental exposure tests with- out current passing through the fuse-links. (6) The voltage drop (Vcd-Vab) and full-voltage drop (Vef) of the test jig shall be 2 mVIA or less and 4 mVIA or less, respectively. They shall be measured by allowing 10 A electric current to flow through a dummy fuse-link as shown in Fig.4. The (Vcd-Vab) and (Vef) shall be measured at the measuring points shown in Fig.3. Remark: Fig.3 Testing arrangement Measuring point for voltage drop I n C One cycle Time (h) 6.6.2 Resistance to oil The lubricating oil resistance test shall be performed in the fol- lowing procedure: (1) Immerse a fuse-link sample in the test oil No.1 (lubricat- ing oil) given under Clause 12.3 (Testing equipment) of JIS K 6301 for one minute. (2) Remove the fuse-link sample from the oil and subject it to a temperature of (90 I2)“C for one hour. (3) Drain all liquid from the fuse-link sample. 6.6.3 Resistance to fuel The fuel oil resistance test shall be performed in the following procedure: (1) Immerse a fuse-link sample in the test oil Type C (fuel oil) given under Clause 12.3 (Testing equipment) of JIC K 6301 for one minute. (2) Remove the fuse-link sample from the oil and dry it at a temperature of (90 f 2)“C for one hour. (3) Drain all liquid from the fuse-link sample. 6.7 Maximum current test The maximum current test shall be performed in the following procedure: (1) Apply a current equivalent in value to the rating of the fuse-link on test for a duration of 5 min. (2) Increase the current value in steps of 2.5% of the fuse- link rating each five minutes until the fuse-element melts. (3) Apply a 32 V voltage after fusion and measure the leak- age current. 6.8 Breaking capacity The breaking capacity test shall be performed in the following procedure: (I) A current of (1 O00 I 50)A shall be applied at (32 + 2.0/ -0) VDC with a (2.0 10.5) ms time constant to the fuse- link in the circuit as shown in Fig. 7. Connections shall be made to the fuse-link by not less than 600 mm of the connecting cables in Table 5. (2) Apply a 32 V voltage after fusion, measure the leakage current and check the appearance of the fuse-link for abnormalities. 7 JAS0 D 612-97 Type of fuse-link Fig.7 Breaking capacity test circuit Force si Remark The symbols in the figure refers to the folloing: Q : Power source Sch : Switch A :Ammeter A : Adjusting resistor K Si : Fuse short circuiting switch : Fuse (-link mounted on the test jig) 6.9 Dismountability inspection Pull out a fuse-link sample from the test jig two minutes after it fused. 6.10 Strength of terminals Apply the force shown in Table 6 to a fuse-link sample in the way as shown in Fig.8 and measure the displacement amount.
