ENGINEERING STANDARDS Material Specification Plastics GMP.PVC.035 PVC 60 Shore A, Interior, Integral Colored, Extrusion/Injection Molding Compound 1 Scope This specification covers the properties of an Integral colored Black, 60 Shore A Hardness, UV stable, Poly (vinyl chloride), pellet form, extrusion or injection-molding compound 1.1 Symbol. The material abbreviation according to ISO 11469 is PVC. 1.2 Typical Application. Materials approved to this specification may be extrusion or injection moldable. Check with GM Materials Engineering or the approved source for specific materials for the intended application use. Typical applications include the following: Interior Trim Moldings. 2 References Note: Only the latest approved standards are applicable unless otherwise specified. 2.1 External Standards/Specifications. Tests shall be conducted using the latest issue of the test methods indicated. Suitable precautions should be taken to ensure that applicable safe limits are not exceeded when conducting test procedures, processes, and/or handling the materials required by this specification. All testing in standard conditions to this specification shall be performed in accordance with GMW3221, “Procedure for Standard Conditions of Organic Materials”. Tests shall be conducted 40 h minimum after molding and immediately following a conditioning period of 24 hours minimum at 22 ± 3°C and 50 ± 5% RH unless otherwise specified. All tests shall be performed on unannealed specimens. In addition, tests specified at temperatures below or above 22 ± 3°C shall be conducted at the specified temperature using specimens conditioned at the specified temperature for 4 hours minimum. Test specimens shall be 1.8 ± 0.2 mm thick unless otherwise specified. Property values are the average of an equal number of specimens cut from both the longitudinal and transverse plaque directions. The minimum values specified in the property tables must be met by test specimens in natural, black, or in a standard sampled color if natural or black are not available. For colored grades where other pigment and additive systems (e.g. stabilizer) are used, the impact values shall not decrease more than 10 % from the specified minimum value. © Copyright 2003 General Motors Corporation All Rights Reserved June 2003 Originating Department: North American Engineering Standards Page 1 of 3 Copyright General Motors North America Provided by IHS under license with GM Licensee=IHS Employees/1111111001, User=Japan, IHS Not for Resale, 06/23/2008 23:29:00 MDTNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS -,-,- GMP.PVC.035 GM ENGINEERING STANDARDS © Copyright 2003 General Motors Corporation All Rights Reserved Page 2 of 3 June 2003 3.1.2 Mechanical Requirements.
