Because imperial film dimensions are still widely used in the UK, it was considered necessary to list the equivalent imperial film dimensions alongside the metric film sizes. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. Summary of pages This document comprises a front cover, an inside front cover, pages i and ii, pages 1 and 2, an inside back cover and a back cover. This standard has been updated (see copyright date) and may have had amendments incorporated. This will be indicated in the amendment table on the inside front cover. Licensed Copy: sheffieldun sheffieldun, na, Mon Dec 04 13:29:33 GMT+00:00 2006, Uncontrolled Copy, (c) BSI BS 5550-3.4.8:1986 © BSI 10-19991 1 Scope This Subsection of BS 5550 specifies the lateral positions and width dimensions of original two-track negative photographic sound records on 35 mm motion-picture film and applies to raw stock cut and perforated in accordance with BS 5550-3.1.1. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Positions and dimensions The positions and dimensions of the two sound records shall be as shown in Figure 1 and given in Table 1 for 100 % modulation. NOTE 1The two tracks may also be used for unrelated material such as two languages. NOTE 2It is recommended that the container of a negative having two sound records should be labelled with the track usage. NOTEThe film is shown with the photo layer away from the observer.
