It is a revision of BS 3F 58 which is withdrawn. It differs from the previous edition primarily in that only one thread is now specified. The quality assurance authority referred to in this standard is as stated in the contract or order, or the accredited representative of the authority stated, as instructed by the prime contractors. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. Summary of pages This document comprises a front cover, an inside front cover, pages i and ii, pages 1 and 2, an inside back cover and a back cover. This standard has been updated (see copyright date) and may have had amendments incorporated. This will be indicated in the amendment table on the inside front cover. NOTEUp to two laid-on ends per package are permitted. b) Length per unit mass. The length per unit mass of thread shall be determined in accordance with BS 2010, method A. 3 Yarn The thread shall be manufactured from combed cotton yarn. 4 Construction and properties 4.1 The construction and properties of the finished thread shall comply with the requirements of Table 2. 4.2 The direction of final twist shall be Z. 5 Finish 5.1 Condition of material The thread shall be supplied scoured, dyed to BS 381C shade 539 and rot-proofed with pentachlorophenyl laurate (PCPL) in accordance with BS 2087-1, normal process.
