Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies grease nipples, hereinafter referred to as the “nipples“, to be used for general machines, automobiles, ships, etc, Remark: In this standard, the units and numerical values given in 1 are in accordance with the International System of Units (SI), and are given for reference. Type A-M 6 F, Type A-MT 6 x 0.75, Type A-PT 1/8, Type A-PT 114, “Y& B and Type C Type A-MT 6 x 1, 3 Performance 3.1 Grease Inflow When the grease is flowed into the nipple fixed to a chuck type nozzle (1) under the pressures of approx. 30 kgf/cm2 (3 MPa and then approx, 280 kgf/cm2 (28 MPa, the grease shall flow in condition and the steel ball shall turn without abnormality, Note (l) The chuck type nozzle is referred to JE3 B 9808, . 3.2 Pressure Resistance When grease is injected into the threaded side of the nipple, under pressure of 35 kgf/cm2 (3.5 MPa, the nipple shall show no harmful leakage nor other abnormality. 3.3 impact Strength When a nipple which has been fixed to a testing apparatus, as shown in Fig. 1, with its head screwed in horizontally is subjected to -an impact of 1,5 kg weight generally of 50 mm diameter cylinder made of SK 5 steel of JE3 G 4401) falling freely from a vertical height ( H ) given in Table 2, the nipple shall show no separation, crack and fissure. For the Types B and C, the impact strengths shall be referred to the nipple head. Hardness The steel nipples of which head has been surface hardened shall have depth of hardening of O. 1 mm or more with surface of such hardness that the surface can scarcely be rasped with a file of 40 in hardness number on H,C scale, 5. Shape and Dimensions The shape and dimensions of the nipples shall conform to Attached Figures, 6 . Appearance The nipple shall be free from crack, harmful flaws, flashes and defects such as broken crest of the threaded portion. 7. Materials The materials of the nipple body and nipple head shall be in accordance with Table 3, as a rule. Plating The steel nipples shall be subjected to zinc electroplating. It shall prove itself to be of Grade MFZn II or more, when tested in accordance with JIS H 8610. The threaded protioris are exempted from the above rule. . Specification for nickel plating, when required, onto the brass nipples shall be as agreed upon between the parties concerned in acceptance. . 9 . Inspection 9.1 Inspection on Grease Inflow The grease idow shall comply with the requirements o f 3 1 9.2 Inspection on Pressure Resistance The pressure resistance shall comply with the requirements of 3.2. Designation The nipples shall be designated in the order of the number or title of this standard, type, material and surface hardening. The screw threads for Type A-M 6 F shall be as specified in J E B 0207, and the accuracy shall conform to 6 g or Grade 2 specified in JE B 0211. The screw threads for Types A-PT 1/8 and A-PT 1 / 4 and the screw threads for bodies of the Types B and C shall be as specified in JE B 0203. The fitting screw threads of the nipple heads of Types B and C may be altered, when speoified by the purober, Dimensional tolerance, unless otherwise speoified, shall be of Medium Grade specified in JI8 B 0406.
