Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies shutter cable releases (hereafter referred to as “releases“) and their connecting parts used for cameras. Remarks: The following standard is cited in this Standard. JIS B 0205 Metric coarse screw threads 2. Classification Releases shall be classified into two kinds - a combination of a taper external screw thread and a taper internal screw thread and a combi- nation of a taper external screw thread and a parallel internal screw thread. 3. Performance The performance of releases shall meet the following requirements: (i) No abnormality shall be found in any part of the cable when a load of 20 N is applied to the plunger to make it operate with the cable being straight- ened. The force of the spring of the release button shall be within 4 N when the button is pushed to the full, and the spring shall return without hindrance when the cable is bent to an angle of 180“ with a radius of curvature of 15 mm. However, this pushing operation shall be performed on the cable straightened for release cables of 90 mm or shorter in length. (2) 4. Shape and dimensions 4.1 parts shall be as specified below. B 7104-1992 4.2 Plunger part The plunger part shall meet the following requirements. (i) The plunger shall not protrude from the end of the guiding part when the release button is released. In addition, the rear end of the plunger shall not extend to the flexible portion of the release. In the condition in which the release button is pushed to the full, the plunger shall protrude from the end of the guiding part by 12 mm or more. or more in the guiding part.
