Consequently JIS G 3132 : 1990 is replaced with this Standard. Attention is drawn to the possibility that some parts of this Standard may conflict with a patent right, application for a patent after opening to the public, utility model right or application for registration of utility model after opening to the public which have technical properties. Scope 2 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this Standard. The most recent edi- tions of the standards (including amendments) indicated below shall be applied. JIS G 0320 Standard test methods for heat analysis of steel products JIS G O404 Steel and steel products-General technical delivery requirements JIS G 0415 Steel and steel products-Inspection documents JIS G 3193 Dimensions, mass and permissible variations of hot rolled steel plates, sheets and strips Test pieces for tensile test for metallic materials Bend test pieces for metallic materials Method of tensile test for metallic materials Method of bend test for metallic materials JIS Z 2201 JIS Z 2204 JIS Z 2241 JIS Z 2248 3 Classification, symbols and applicable thicknesses The steel strips shall be classified into 4 grades and their symbols and applicable thicknesses shall be as given in table 1. Note (2) It may be modified to 0.04 5% max. by agreement between the purchaser and the supplier. 490 min. 5 Mechanical properties The steel strip shall be tested in accordance with 8.2 and the determined tensile strength, elongation and bendability shall comply with table 3. In the bend test, no cracks shall be generated on the outside of the bent portion. The bend test may be omitted unless otherwise specified by the purchaser. 15 min. 18 min. Remarks 1 The value given above are not applicable to the irregular portions at either and of the steel strip. 2 1 N/mm* = 1 MPa 6 Shapes, dimensions, mass and tolerances The shapes, dimensions, mass of the steel strip and their tolerances shall comply with JIS G 3193. When especially required, however, the range of mass for a steel strip may be agreed upon by the purchaser and the supplier. PROTECTED BY COPYRIGHT 3 G 3132 : 2005 Tolerances on thickness shall comply with table 4 or table 5. The thickness shall be measured at a position not less than 20 mm from the side edge, or at the centre of the width, if the steel strip is less than 40 mm in width. The maximum value of cam- ber shall be 5 mm for any 2 m length irrespective of the width of the steel strip. The measurement of camber shall be carried out only when requested by the purchaser. However, it may be agreed upon by the purchaser and the supplier when there is a special request from the purchaser. 8 Tests 8.1 Chemical analysis 8.1.1 General requirements and sampling method for chemical analysis The chemical analysis for the steel strip shall be conducted by cast analysis, and the general requirements for chemical analysis and the sampling method for analysis shall be as specified in clause 8 of JIS G 0404. 8.1.2 Test method The method for cast analysis shall conform to JIS G 0320. 8.2 Mechanical test 8.2.1 General The general requirements for the mechanical test shall be as specified in clause 9 of JIS G 0404. However, the sampling method shall be Class A of clause 7 in JIS G 0404, and the number of test pieces and the sampling position and direc- tion shall be as follows: PROTECTED BY COPYRIGHT 5 G 3132 : 2005 Number of test pieces for tensile and bend tests Take one test piece each for the tensile test and bending test from each lot of the same heat rolled to the same thickness. However, for lots over 50 t, take two specimen products, from each one of which one test piece for tensile and one for bend test shall be sampled. Sampling position and direction of tensile and bend test pieces The test piece shall be taken in parallel with the rolling direction, and the centre of a test piece shall be at a quarter-width from the side edge. However, when it is infeasible to observe the requirement of a quarter-width from the side edge, the sampling position should be as close to the specified position as possible. 8.2.2 Tensile test a) b) The tensile test shall comply with the following. No. 5 test piece specified in JIS Z 2201 shall be used. The test method shall be in accordance with JIS Z 2241. 8.2.3 Bend test a) b) The bend test shall be as specified in the following. No. 3 test piece specified in JIS Z 2204 shall be used. The test method shall be in accordance with JIS Z 2248. 9 Inspection 9.1 Inspection The inspection shall be carried out as follows: a) b) c) d) e) The general requirements for the inspection shall be as specified in JIS G 0404. The chemical composition shall conform to the requirements of clause 4. The mechanical properties shall conform to the requirements of clause 5. The shapes, dimensions and mass shall conform to the requirements of clause 6. The appearance shall conform to the requirements of clause 7. 9.2 Reinspection The steel strip having failed to meet the requirements for ten- sile and bend tests may be subjected to a retest for final acceptance in accordance with 9.8 of JIS G 0404. 10 Marking each bundle with the following details by suitable means. The steel strip which has passed the inspection shall be marked for a) Classification symbol b) Heat number or inspection number c) Dimensions d) Mass e) Manufacturers name or identifying brand PROTECTED BY COPYRIGHT 6. G 3132 : 2005 11 Report When requested by the purchaser in advance, the manufacturer shall submit an inspection document in accordance with clause 13 of JIS G 0404. The type of inspection document shall be, unless otherwise specified, 2.3 or 3.1.B in table 1 of JIS G 0415.
