Remarks 1. The testing machine consists of the testing tank, emission part, arc stabilizer, test piece holding device set at the circumference of emission part provided with a rotary mechanism, spray device( ') , drum cooler( ') , thermo- regulator, humidity regulator( 2, for regulating the temperature and humidity in the testing tank, instrumen- tation appliances, etc. Further, an example is shown in Informative Reference Fig. 1. Notes (I) This applies to light-and-water testing machine. (2) This applies to the testing machine provided with a humidity regulator . 2. In this Standard the units and numerical values shown in are in accordance with the traditional units and, appended for informative reference. 2. Definitions For the purpose of this Standard, following definitions apply: light resistance of sunlight. Classification Testing machines shall be divided according to the fact without spray device or equipped with it into the following two types. (1) Enclosed carbon-arc type light exposure apparatus hereinafter referred to as 'IF typeff. (2) Enclosed carbon-arc type light-and-water-exposure apparatus, hereinafter referred to as “W type“. Further, main specifications of these two type testing machines shall be in accordance with Table 1. Table 1. Performance 4.1 Emission Part The performance and specifications of emission part shall be in accordance with Table 2. The relative positions of spray nozzles and test piece are shown in Informative Reference Fig. 2. Table 4. At highest 80% or loo%, the scale interval is 1%. The black panel temperature can be regulated at tempera- ture in the specified setting capable range. Structure and Material 5.1 Testing Tank The testing tank shall be as follows: (1) Structure The testing tank is a tank to carry out light irradiation or light irradiation and water spray, which is provided with an emission part, rack or drum, capable of accumulating water on the bottom part, capable of regulating temperature or temperature and humidity, and in W type further it is such structure that it is built- in with spray nozzle and the like. COPYRIGHT Japanese Standards Association Licensed by Information Handling Services COPYRIGHT Japanese Standards Association Licensed by Information Handling Services J I S B*775L 90 m 4933b08 0039405 2 m 7 B 7751-1990 (2) Material The material of testing tank internal wall is SUS 304 specified in JIS G 4305 or that having corrosion resistance equivalent or superior thereto or that applied with corrosion resistance treatment. 5.2 Emission Part The emission part shall be as follows: (1) Structure The emission part is a carbon arc lamp of a.c. burning to generate arc in inside of enclosed globe, consists of carbon, globe, arc current voltage regulator, carbon holder, etc. and is in ac- cordance with Table 8. Structure of Emission Part Content This is a carbon rod made for use of testing machine, there are two types having core and without core, and those of different type are used as a pair up and down. This is a filter made of heat resistant glass having the purpose to enclose the carbon arc. Further, the shape of globe is indicated in Informative Reference Fig. 4. This is a device to generate arc, to regulate automatical- ly the position of upper part carbon corresponding to variation of the current (or voltage), and to maintain the arc current (or voltage) at the specified value, and as to the system, there are such systems of electro- magnetic coil system, electric motor driving system, etc. There are carbon holders for upper part carbon and lower part carbon and these are capable of fixing the carbon securely. (2) Material Corresponding to the using part, the material has adequate heat resistance, corrosion resistance , moisture resistance or electric insulation. 5 . 3 Arc Stabilizer The arc stabilizer is a device to maintain continuously the stabilized arc , and in arc circuit a resistor, choke transformer , magnetic leakage transformer, etc. are used. Further, in order to enter the arc voltage always in the specified range relative to the variation of input voltage, an arc voltage regulator is provided. 5.4 Test Piece Holding Device The test piece holding device consists of a rack to attach a test piece holder or drum, their rotation mechanism and test piece holder, and is in accordance with Table 9. Further, the structure of main part is shown in Informative Reference a Fig. 2. Structure and Material of Test Piece Holding Device Item Rack Drum Rotary mechanism Test piece holder Content The rack is a rotary rack of ring state, is capable of attaching test piece holders of 18 pieces or more (including black panel thermometer and the like), and so as the test piece to receive irradiation of light is able to rotate around the circumference of emission part. The material to be used is SUS 304 specified in JIS G 4307, C 2600 R specified in JIS H 3100 applied with corrosion resistant treatment or the material equivalent or superior thereto. This is a rotary drum of cylinder shape, is capable of attaching test piece holders of 30 pieces (including the black panel thermometer) and so as the test piece to receive uniformly the irradiation of light and water spray, is able to rotate around the circumference of emission
