In addition, this Standard does not have the corresponding International Stan- dard. 1 referred to as “test method”) for the toughness test of link chains. Scope Remarks : This Standard specifies the impact test method of chain links (hereafter The chain link impact testing machine is specified in annex 1. 2 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this Standard, constitute provisions of this Standard. The most recent editions (including amendments) indicated below shall be applied. When the test temperature (27 is a low temperature of O O C or lower, the J-shaped test piece shall be cooled in the liquid tank or in the gas tank, or the J-shaped test piece or the support shall be cooled with the J-shaped test piece fixed to the support. The tolerance on the test temperature shall be T+ 2 OC. The retention time of the J-shaped test piece at the test temperature shall be 5 min for the liquid tank or 30 min for the gas tank. Furthermore, it shall be 10 min when the J- shaped test piece and the support are together cooled. Information : The test temperature of the J-shaped test piece should be con- firmed just before the test. b) c) 6.2 Fixing method of J-shaped test piece The J-shaped test piece shall be prop- erly fixed to the test-piece support so that the distance (h) between the test-piece support and the impact point specified in table 1 is satisfied. The support surface of the J-shaped test piece shall be perpendicular to the direction of movement of the pendulum, and the J-shaped test piece shall be fixed between the support surface and the opposite parallel surface. Furthermore, the impact portion of the J-shaped test piece shall be fixed so that it is located in the centre of the hammer (see fig- ure 2 and figure 3). Remarks : The J-shaped test piece shall be fixed to the test-piece support so that the position of blade edge when the pendulum reaches the lowest point becomes the impact point. Absorbed energy (E) of a J-shaped test piece shall be corrected with the correc- tion value of energy lost during motion of a pendulum (see clause 13 of annex 1). 6.4 a) b) Cl How to obtain impact value of chain link The impact value of a chain link T, (J/mm3) shall be calculated according to the formula (1). The impact value of a chain link shall be obtained as the average value of the test result when the number of test piece (n) is 3. However, the case when the J-shaped test piece is not broken is not included in the average value. Further- more, when two or more test pieces are not broken, the re-test shall be per- formed. The transition curve and transition temperature shall be obtained in accordance with JIS G 0202 and JIS Z 2242. 7 Record The item to record shall be as follows: a) Kind of link chains b) c) Grade and/or type of link chains Nominal wire diameter, (actually measured wire diameter) x pitch d, (d) x P (mm) d) Test temperature T ( O C ) e) Absorbed energy E (JI f) g) h) Test site and examiner Impact value of chain link T, (J/mm3) Year, month and day of test Information : The examples of the transition curve of impact value of chain link are shown in informative figure 1 and informative figure 2.
