Consequently JIS G 3315 : 1987 is replaced with this Standard. In this revision, in order to conform JISs to International Standard, IS0 11950 : 1995 Cold-reduced electrolytic chromium /chromium oxide-coated steel is adopted as the base. Attention is drawn to the possibility that some parts of this Standard may conflict with a patent right, application for a patent after opening to the public, utility model right or application for registration of utility model after opening to the public which have technical properties. The relevant Minister and the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee are not responsible for identifying the patent right, application for a patent after opening to the public, utility model right or application for registration of utility model after opening to the public which have the said technical properties. Although Japanese Industrial Standard wherein IS0 11950 : 1995 is translated and prepared into JIS without modifying the technical contents is established as another standard JIS G 7122 Cold-reduced electrolytic chromium /chromium oxide-coated steel, they are planned to be unified in the future by proposing a revision of the ISO. 1 Scope This Standard specifies the single cold-reduced chromium plated tin free steel coated by electrolytic chromic acid processed on the low carbon steel base rolled to from 0.15 mm up to 0.60 mm in nominal thickness, and double cold-reduced chro- mium plated tin free steel of low carbon steel rolled to from 0.14 mm up to 0.36 mm in nominal thickness. Remarks 1 The term “single cold-reduced chromium plated tin free steel” means the single cold-reduced low carbon steel sheet coated by electrolytic chromic acid process. 2 The term “double cold-reduced chromium plated tin free steel” means the low carbon steel sheet coated by electrolytic chromic acid process which has received a second major cold reduction following annealing. 3 The chromium plated tin free steel involves those in sheet form and coil form, and the former is called the sheet, while the latter the coil. 4 The International Standard corresponding to this Standard is as fol- lows. In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) ac- cording to ISO/IEC Guide 21. IS0 11950 : 1995 Cold-reduced electrolytic chromium /chromium ox- ide-coated steel (MOD) 2 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this Standard, constitute provisions of this Standard. Table 1 Coating mass Unit : mg/mz (one side face) I Metallic chromium layer I Hydrated chromium oxide layer Remarks : The minimum average coating mass and the maximum average coat- ing mass are applied to the arithmetic average value of three test specimens obtained in 12 and 13. 5 Temper designation 5.1 Single cold-reduced product The temper designation of single cold-reduced chromium plated tin free steel is expressed by Rockwell superficial hardness (HR30T). The target values of the manufacturer are given in Table 2. Other temper designa- tion than those in Table 2 shall be agreed upon between the manufacturer and the purchaser. DR-9M DR-10 2 690 77 80 The annealing method contains the batch annealing and continuous annealing, and even though hardness values expressed in HR30T obtained from those both processes are equal, other mechanical char- acteristics than hardness are not always consistent. Therefore, the purchaser may specify either of them subjected to agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser. In the case where the con- tinuous annealing process is selected, the latter symbol CA is suf- fixed to the temper designation specified in Table 2. Example : T-4CA 5.2 Double cold-reduced product The temper designation of double cold-reduced chromium plated tin free steel is expressed in Rockwell superficial hardness (HR30T). The target value of the manufacturer is given in Table 3. Remarks 1 All factors which affect the work performance for double cold-reduced chromium coated tin free steel cannot exactly be enumerated, how- ever, Rockwell superficial hardness is adopted as the useful indica- tor of mechanical characteristics. 2 The yield strength, if required, should be determined for reference and it implies a converted yield strength obtained by the springback test specified in Annex 3.
