Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies standard type of letters used when the Kanjis i n the “Common-used Chinese Characters Table“, are engraved mainly i n a small size by an engraving machine. Remarks 1 . Finished size of letters i n engraving Kanjis i n a small size by an engraving machine, as a general rule, shall be 3 t o 10 mm. Applicable Standards are as follows: JIS Z 8904-Standard Type of Letters used i n Mechanical Engraving (KATAKANA Characters) JIS Z 8905-Standard Type of Letters used i n Mechanical 2. Engraving (Arabic Figures and Roman Types) JIS Z 8906-Standard Type of Letters used i n Mechanical Engraving (HIRAGANA Characters) 2. Definition For the main terms used i n this Standard the definitions are as follows: Mechanical Engraving engraving machine provided with rotating cutters. The engraving of letters on materials using Standard Type of Letters mechanically using the type of letters for original blocks indicated i n Annex 1, and Annex 2. Finished types of letters engraved Type of Letter for Original Block original form i n mechanical graving. The type of letter using as an Basic Frame An imaginary square surrounding a letter. However, there may be some deviation i n the density of the stipple.
