Results of tests on production product shall be essentially equivalent to those on the approved sample. Production product made by a revised procedure shall not be shipped prior to receipt of reapproval. If necessary to make any change in parameters for the process control factors, manufacturer shall submit for reapproval a statement of the proposed changes in ingredients and/or processing and, when requested, sample product. 4.4.2Manufacturer of the product shall make no significant change in material, processes, or control factors from those on which the approval was based, unless the change is approved by the cognizant engineering organization. A significant change is one which, in the judgment of the cognizant engineering organization, could affect the properties or performance of the product. 4.4.2.1Control factors for producing products include, but are not limited to, the following: Compound ingredients and proportions thereof within established limits Sequence of mixing compound ingredients Type of mixing equipment Method and equipment for preparing preforms Basic molding procedure (compression, transfer, injection) Curing time and pressure; variations of ±10% are permissible Finishing methods Methods of inspection. 4.4.2.2Any of the above process control factors for which parameters are considered proprietary by the manufacturer may be assigned a code designation. Each variation in such parameters shall be assigned a modified code designation. A burner with a nominal 0.375 inch (9.52 mm) I.D. tube shall be adjusted to produce a 1.5 inch (38 mm) flame with a flame temperature of 845 °C (1553 °F) or higher. Measurement of flame temperature shall be accomplished by a calibrated thermocouple in the center of flame. The specimen shall be held firmly in the vertical position with the lower edge of the rubber cushion 0.75 inch (19 mm) above the top edge of the burner. The flame shall be applied to the centerline of the lower edge of the cushion for 12 seconds and then removed. The flame time (seconds) and burn lengths (tenths of inch (mm) shall be measured, recorded, and averaged. 4.5.2Titanium Compatibility: Five samples of silicone rubber cushion material shall be mounted on a 0.625 inch (15.88 mm) OD AMS 4943 titanium alloy tube having a nominal wall thickness of 0.028 inch (0.71 mm). When using loop or block clamp configurations there shall be no spacer between feet. The cushion material shall be mounted in direct contact with the surface of the tube. The tube shall be heated to 290 °C ± 3 (554 °F ± 5) and held at temperature for 288 hours ± 0.5. The test apparatus shall be removed and the tube shall be exposed to a temperature of 70 °C ± 3 (158 °F ± 5) and 95% +5, -15 relative humidity for 480 hours ± 0.5. The cushions shall be removed and examined at 10X magnification. 4.6Reports: The supplier of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report from the manufacturer showing the results of tests to determine conformance to the acceptance test requirements and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, lot number, AMS 3352B, manufacturer's identification, form, size, and quantity. 4.7Resampling and Retesting: If any specimen used in the above tests fails to meet the specified requirements, disposition of the product may be based on results of testing three additional specimens for each original nonconforming specimen. Failure of any retest specimen to meet the specified requirements shall be cause for rejection of the product represented. Results of all tests shall be reported. 5.PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY: 5.1Packaging and Identification: 5.1.1A lot of product may be packaged in small quantities and delivered under the basic lot approval provided lot identification is maintained.
