There are lots of ethnic minorities in Kunming . Kunming is situated at the eastern part of Yunnan Province and 1895 meters above sea level. To the south is the Dian Lake which can adjust the climate of Kunming . The annual average temperature of Kunming is about 15. That is why Kunming is called “Spring City”. About Kunming Kunming has abundant natural landscape and human landscape. Dian Lake Western Hills Forest Park Situated in the west of Kunming City, Western Hills Forest Park consists of many famous tourist sites such as Huating Temple, Taihua Temple and Longmen Grotto etc. The trip up to West Hills is worth a visit, providing a good view of the city as well as providing the clean air to your lungs. Cuihu Park Situated directly opposite Yunnan University, Cuihu Park (Green Lake Park) is divided into four sections. These include a bamboo forest island where you can catch the locals having a good old song and dance session, and a goldfish island, which provides a peaceful environment for people to sit down and relax. The center of the park has a pavilion where visitors can climb up and get a proper view of the surrounding scenery. Around November each year, several thousand Siberian gulls will stop off here to escape the bitter winter of northern Russia. Haigeng Park Located around 10 kilometers from the city, Haigeng Park, is known best as the place to go if you want to see the Dian Lake well. The park itself is divided into four sections that include a national base for winter sports training, and a beach area to relax and soak up the sights of the lake. Much like Cuihu Park, visitors can see Siberian gulls that flock to this area each year, and they are not afraid to get close to you and say hello! About 8 km east of the city center, on Mingfeng Shan is the beautiful Golden Temple, Taihe Palace. Built in 1604, this Ming Dynasty temple is decorated with a staggering 246 tons of bronze. Travelers are advised to visit this spot in February, when the 600-year old camellia is in full bloom. Golden Temple Yunnan wild animal park is in the Golden Temple scenic spot. The whole wildlife park construction and structure is given priority to with nature. Animals are mainly Yunnan and western China species and unique animals in Yunnan: Yunnan golden monkey, Asian elephants, red pandas and so on. Yunnan wild animal park Many wild animals, such as: alpacas, deer, green peacock are free-range in this mountain, no glass boxes, no cages. I think this is very good living environment for them and make visitors feel the harmonious relationship of man and nature. Yuan tong hill is located in the north of Kunming city, as one of the eight famous sights in Kunming. Kunming zoo is on this hill, which has many animals like monkeys, pandas, lion, tiger, elephant, peacock and so on. An ancient temple called Yuan tong temple on it as well. It is the largest Buddhist temple in Kunming urban areas. Its also has many kinds of garden planting . Especially in March every year oriental cherry in full bloom, the scenery is very spectacular Yuan tong Hill Park Grand View Park Positioned in the south-western suburbs of Kunming, the Grand View Park is up there with the rest in terms of lakeside beauty. Upon entering the park youll soon run into a pavilion, the view from which justifies the parks name. Daguan literally means “Grand View” and it a very apt name for this park and is beautiful pavilion. On the shore of Dian Lake, facing the Western Hills, the park was originally built in 1682. Daguan Chrysanthemum Exhibition Yunnan Nationalities Village Yunnan has a very long history. The creators of this wonderful land are not any others but 26 nationalities who have been living on this land. There are altogether 56 nationalities in China, and 25 ethnic minorities are living in Yunnan Province. As Yunnan has so many nationalities, it has lots of different cultures. If you want to have a general idea of them, it is not practical to travel around all the areas. Thats why built the “Yunnan Nationalities Village”. The Yunnan Nationalities Village is located on the lakeshore of Dian Lake. In the Yunnan Nationalities Village 25 villages are meant to be built for each of the 25 ethnic minorities in Yunnan, now they are still under construction, only 13 villages have been finished, and we can visit them.
