From 1930 tothe end of the century the population rose from two billion to over six billion. Itis expected that this trend in the changing population will continue. The growingpopulation requires increasing amounts of energy. These energy demands and othersupplies require production, which almost always involves the release of greenhousegases. The more thepopulationincreases, the more greenhousegases are producedandthe greater increase in temperature.Theburningof fossilfuelsis one of the causes forglobalwarming.Whenfossilfuels burn, they release large amounts of carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide in thecar then leads to global warming.Another source of carbon dioxide comes from cutting trees. In forests thereis enormous amount of carbon thatisstoredin the treesand otherplants.Thiscarbonis out of the atmosphere because the trees consume the carbon from carbon dioxide. When these trees are cut down, they are frequently burned. This burning releases the carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Even when new trees are planted, it can take up to one hundred years to supply the carbon that was released. It is commonly thought that because young trees absorb more carbon dioxide, the atmosphere experiences positive effects. An uncommonly recognized source of global warming is from the agricultural industry. The rice paddies release methane which is one of the greenhouse gases. Fertilizers that are used for crops release another greenhouse gas, nitrous oxide.Another reason is vaporization of water. The warmer the earth is, the more- 3 -water that vaporizes from the oceans toclouds. These cloudscan eitherincreasethetemperature or decrease it. The increased amount of vapor in the atmosphere will affect the earths temperature but it is not completely known how.31. The people in the world are over _ now.A 1 billionB2 billionC13 billionD 6 billion32. The burning of fossil fuels releases_A methaneB carbon dioxideCvapourD nitrous oxide33. A考 “ be about to do when”的句型。 其中 when 相当于 and just then,不可以用 while, as等替 。 hand in 表示“上交”; hand on 表示“把 下去”; handout 表示“分 ”; hand over表示“移交”。 6. C7C 名 短 作主 ,答 后面省略了 made Celia so happy。8. into是 介 ,此 相当于 and went into。15 B从前面的 follow, watch以及 as her little behind判断,他女儿看到- 5 -他,赶 “拐入”洗澡 。 24 B根据其后的 作 back up into her tearfuleyes ,所以此 的 作就 是lookdown,即“往下看”。25 B后面的 IM A PERFECT LITTLE ANGEL! 31. D32. B33. A 。 A Fine Piece of Work指的是木匠搭建的那座小 ,意指沟通心灵的 梁。 - 6 - 7 -
